Raincoat Cinema
Introduction: this is the kind of “adults only” movie fare that would play on 42nd Street from the 1950s to the 1960s. This “festival” is so named, because patrons would often wear raincoats to the cinema, plunk down exact change at the ticket window so they could run right in, all to avoid being recognized. Many of these films are tame by comparison today, but they inevitably remain time capsules of their eras. As can be expected, the name of Something Weird Video will be mentioned a lot in these reviews, as they have done amazing work in preserving these films for future generations.
