Desert Veils (Canada, 1992) Louise Lebeau 14 min color B&W
This interesting documentary is as much about the interior landscape as the exterior. In between her duties as a film crew on an archaeological dig in New Mexico, Ms. Lebeau collected a series of tableaux about the women in the area. Part documentary, part impressionism, this film seems like two different plains which attempt not to converge. In all, it raises the question of how certain things translate to film; concrete images or actions are easily captured, but thoughts are contained on celluloid with an entirely different approach.
